Mano a Mano Foundation

About Us

WHO WE ARE

Providing support and education to the Latino community since 1984

We are a non-profit foundation dedicated to provide support and education to the Latino community, directed by Dr. Beatriz Villarreal.

At Mano a Mano Foundation, we offer an array of conferences encompassing a variety of educational topics. Our Program teaches Latino parents how to be better parents and help their children succeed in school and life in general. We have over 25 years of experience giving conferences about prevention and education with topics including drug and alcohol abuse, among others.

Mano a Mano Foundation has received many community awards for the service we provide. We work closely with UC San Diego, San Diego State University and San Marcos State University, producing free educational videos for the community, addressing crucial topics that affect our Latino Community, such as teen pregnancy prevention, gang awareness, sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and truancy.

We also train people from Latin American countries (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Argentina, Chile, Peru y Ecuador) so that they can bring home the tools offered at Mano a Mano Foundation in order to prevent and educate about juvenile delinquency.

Our Mission

We provide the Latino community with a helping hand through education, not only in San Diego, but also throughout Latin America. We help young people commit to their future and help their parents have the necessary tools to teach values, traditions and discipline as a foundation for their children.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Dr. Beatriz Villareal

My name is Dr. Beatriz Villarreal. Since I arrived to the United States in 1984 I was interested in helping and working with my people, the Latino Community. I have designed several social assistance programs. Of the most impactful was “Spectrum Program”. This was an advisory program that provided support and education to children in Juvenile Hall in San Diego.

This experience changed my life. I realized that 70% of the children in jail were Latino. This is when I decided to start working on the prevention side through my own program and start “Mano a Mano Foundation”. Our workshops are designed to teach Latino families how to be better families and helping children succeed in school and life in general.

Through this program families learn that time is gold. Our children’s education is learned 70% at home and 30% at school. The moral and spiritual values taught at home are what will help our children make healthy and positive decisions in life. We further teach them that today’s dedication will save them from struggling in the future.
