Mano a Mano Foundation has received many community awards for the service we provide. We work closely with UC San Diego, San Diego State University and San Marcos State University, producing free educational videos for the community, addressing crucial topics that affect our Latino Community, such as teen pregnancy prevention, gang awareness, sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and truancy.

We also train people from Latin American countries (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Argentina, Chile, Peru y Ecuador) so that they can bring home the tools offered at Mano a Mano Foundation in order to prevent and educate about juvenile delinquency.

Dra. Beatriz Villarreal

Founder

My name is Dr. Beatriz Villarreal. Since I arrived to the United States in 1984 I was interested in helping and working with my people, the Latino Community. I have designed several social assistance programs. Of the most impactful was “Spectrum Program”. This was an advisory program that provided support and education to children in Juvenile Hall in San Diego.

This experience changed my life. I realized that 70% of the children in jail were Latino. This is when I decided to start working on the prevention side through my own program and start “Mano a Mano Foundation”. Our workshops are designed to teach Latino families how to be better families and helping children succeed in school and life in general.

Through this program families learn that time is gold. Our children’s education is learned 70% at home and 30% at school. The moral and spiritual values taught at home are what will help our children make healthy and positive decisions in life. We further teach them that today’s dedication will save them from struggling in the future.

The main objective is to help young people succeed in life, through great and effective family communication, a discipline method that helps them with self-esteem, and prevention and education about the damage of drugs explaining their legal, mental and physical consequences.
